Butchery Class - Breaking Down a Local Heritage Pig - December 17th 6-8pm
At Poplar we source as much as we can directly from... the source! Chef Iulian has been working with Longview Farm in Accokeek for a number of years and we are excited to bring their products to Poplar.
On December 17th Chef will be breaking down half of a whole heritage Berkshire pig that was slaughtered just two days prior. For the event, the pig will be laid out on the counter and Chef will demonstrate how to break it down into the various cuts you may or may not be familiar with, as well as how to make fresh sausages and simple cured cuts. The class will be informational but patrons will only be permitted to observe (it is not hands-on).
During the event, Chef will provide small bites that prominently feature pork for patrons to enjoy. We will also provide each guest with a 1 lb. bag of bulk sausage to take home!
Drinks will be available a la carte. Additional food will not be available but events participants will be given a 25% discount code for pizzas at Brightwood Pizza (valid only for that day - no limit but only applicable to pizza) that can be enjoyed during or after the event.
